Find out how you can become significantly more productive as a researcher in a fraction of your current working day. Rather than learning (yet more) time management techniques, you will learn new ways of thinking that will reframe your relationship with work.

Part 1 of this two-part launch event is delivered by Prof Mark Reed of Fast Track Impact Ltd and based on his book 'The Productive Researcher.  He will draw on interviews with some of the world’s highest performing researchers, the literature and his own experience to identify a number of important insights that can transform how researchers work. The event is based on an unparalleled breadth of interdisciplinary evidence that speaks directly to researchers of all disciplines and career stages. This event is designed to make you more productive, more satisfied with what you produce, and enable you to be happy working less, and being more.  To book your place, and to read previous participants’ testimonials, click here.

Part 2 – Monday 6 February 2023 (10 am – 12.30 pm)

Following on from Part 1, this online session leads you into the `Focus Space' environment that enables you to put into practice the learning outcomes from Prof Mark Reed's session on how to become a more productive researcher.  This session is delivered by ‘Focus Space’ Facilitators, Dr Patrizia Onnis & Associate Prof Anna Adlam.  This dedicated supportive, safe space enables you to work without distractions; be that reading, writing, data analysis, etc and with support from facilitators.  Time is structured into a series of work and discussion slots, to encourage productivity and sharing of practice. This session allows you to block out protected time for whatever you need to work on in order to allow yourself head-space and improve productivity!

This is Patrizia and Anna’s account of how the online ‘Focus Space’ sessions have helped them:-

Feeling motivated in our work, overcoming our inner ‘research gremlins’ (“this is not good enough”, “no one will be interested in my work”), and scheduling the time to focus on our research outputs was sometimes a struggle! This pushed us to find a space where we can focus on our research, join a community of researchers with shared goals, and gain the tools to keep going when sitting in front of a blank page. This led us to look into ourselves, and ask the deeper questions:-

  • What motivates us?
  • What are our values?
  • How can we develop a better relationship with our work?
  • What will it take to book a space in the calendar to dedicate some time to thinking and writing?

Come and join us to find out what motivates you, how you can re-connect to what you value about your work and keep the writing going through our Focus Space!’

You are not required to attend the whole session.
