Michelmores hosts high-tech startups from Exeter and Bristol

Michelmores Technology and Innovation Unit has been helping leading university business incubator, SETsquared, to showcase some of the most promising upcoming tech startups from Exeter and Bristol.

SETsquared, the enterprise partnership between the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey, brought six of its most disruptive and cutting-edge technology startups to Michelmores in Exeter yesterday (18 October) to pitch to a select audience of investors and mentors.

The pitching event saw startups who are developing technologies for industries ranging from clean energy building solutions, an app using AI to personalize travel experience and a marketplace for high quality independent food retailers and producers, delivering five-minute presentations. The audience, including Michelmores staff from Exeter and London offices, provided feedback and guidance to the entrepreneurs, helping them on the road to investment success.

The businesses who pitched were:

Build Solar (Exeter) Build Solar is positioning to become a major player in the rapidly emerging building integrated photovoltaic market. By combining cutting edge research and design, Build Solar turns mass produced construction materials into affordable opportunities for buildings to generate their own energy, reduce CO2 and provide additional return on investment for building owners.

Care Systems & Innovation (Exeter) Care Systems & innovation (CSI) is led by Barnaby Griffith, a software innovator and care entrepreneur. CSI Offers Care Homes and Services a robust Dashboard to maintain safety and regulated compliance.

Good Sixty (Bristol) Good Sixty is an online marketplace to find the best quality food & drink directly from independent producers, shops & artisans.

KOMPAS (Exeter) KOMPAS is your pocket guide to the world’s urban jungles creating unique and tailored recommendations to cities based on unique individual interests.

LettUs Grow Ltd (Bristol) LettUsGrow technology takes vertical farming to new heights - increasing farm yields and making farmers' lives easier!

LuJam Security Ltd (Bristol) LuJam Security Ltd minimises business risks from cyber threats, tracks where data resides, who’s using it and provides visibility into network activity for GDPR.

The sessions will help prepare the startups as they get ready to pitch to more than 150 investors at this year’s Accelerating Growth Investment Showcase, to be held in Central London by SETsquared in December.
