Exeter event to focus on remarkable potential of Blockchain technology

Next week, the Innovation Centre will host a forward-thinking event presented by the multinational cohort from the University of Exeter International Management programme. The event: The Blockchain: Learn how it will affect everything you do within the next 10 years will form part of a series of events under the theme, International Business Resilience, in partnership with The Chartered Management Institute, Exeter Business School and SETsquared.

The event will focus on the remarkable potential of Blockchain technology and its capacity to change the way we do business. Blockchain is a method of recording data involving anything that needs to be independently recorded and verified as having taken place. Originally devised for the digital currency, Bitcoin, the tech community is now finding other potential uses for the technology including financial records, physical assets and public records.

Guest speaker at the event will be Keld van Schreven, a board member at Kryptonite1, a publicly listed company that seeks opportunities in the Blockchain and cryptocurrency space.  Kryptonite1 performs due diligence on all the major projects coming to market, assessing their potential in line with their mantra 'Team, traction and tech.’ Van Schreven also founded TireTagz, an innovative car technology product, in 2005 and it was acquired in 2007 by NB Capital.

Speaking about the event, Jackie Bagnall, Programme Director for the Masters in International Management said: “Our partnership with CMI is focussed on developing young managers for leadership within global business. The Business Resilience Network brings young professionals from across the world together with business leaders to create new business opportunities. Those opportunities will emerge from the ideas and innovations arising from round table discussions. “

Ioana Medelet and Seb Harwood, two members of the cohort leading on these events said: “the opportunity to network with and meet business people allows us to apply the thinking and creativity that we offer to solve real business problems.”

EY Public sector transformation specialist, David Potter has agreed to Chair this student: business network and said; “I'm involved because I want to invest my time in those that take leadership seriously, who want to take ownership for building a better working world and want to innovate. This business network demonstrates that forward leaning individuals have the capacity to generate difference regardless of experience through sheer energy, focus and strong sense of purpose. Lastly, I like to be around those have open minds, expansive ambition and generous attitudes.”
