Leading academic researchers from the University of Exeter’s Biophysics/Biophotonics team recently visited Gooch & Housego (G&H), the global leader in photonics technology, to meet their Senior Engineering Team.

The event co-chaired by Prof Nick Stone, University of Exeter and Dr Andrew Robertson, G&H provided the opportunity to exchange state of the art research and explore challenges together.

G&H is passionate about developing new photonics technology for the Life Sciences sector and welcomed the opportunity to showcase its High-Tech manufacturing capabilities with the University of Exeter.

Medical Technologies at the University of Exeter (Med-Tex) has been boosted recently with a series of EPSRC Grant Award and aspires to be a global leader for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of non-communicable disease.

The discussions were wide ranging and in the context of Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund both organisations hope to identify collaborative initiatives which leverage their core expertise and capabilities.

By working collaboratively the aim is to develop new technologies to save and sustain life whilst increasing productivity and creating high value jobs for the South West and the UK.
