Short film outlining the potential benefits of seaweed and highlighting the growing importance of seaweed aquaculture.

The wonders of seaweed

Seaweed is recognised as a highly nutritious superfood and is also being used increasingly as a source of biopolymers for use in textile and packaging, as well as human pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.

The farming of seaweeds such as kelp also provides a number of ecosystem services while its being grown in the marine environment, including regulating nutrient concentrations (helping to combat nutrient enrichment), carbon capture and also habitat provisioning for biodiversity and fisheries.

This short film outlines these various potential benefits and highlights the growing importance of seaweed aquaculture.
