About this course:

This course is designed to provide guidance and awareness of chemistry safety (or COSHH) issues for operatives who routinely use a small number of chemicals and may enter laboratory type areas in the course of other work.

This course is designed to aid the completion of COSHH forms and chemical inventories for those who are not primarily in the lab environment.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Plan appropriate precautions before working in a hazardous environment.

- Identify chemical hazards.

- Explain what steps need to be taken to protect yourself and others.

- Complete relevant paperwork

Who should attend this course:

Those routinely using chemicals outside of the laboratory environment.

Estates and security operatives who may enter laboratory spaces during the course of their work, for example, an electrician fixing a light fitting within a teaching laboratory.

Those staff for whom the course is mandatory will be identified and contacted directly by Engineering and Direct Works or their line managers.

Before the course:

No prior work is required however please think about what sorts of chemicals you use or jobs you have to do which may involve entering laboratory areas.
