Leading Change
Description | Theme: Personal Effectiveness.
Category: Leadership.
About this course: Leading change with competence, confidence and commitment. Change is something that provokes a range of responses - from immense enthusiasm, through to strong resistance. Resistance may be commonplace when significant benefits are not obvious, fully understood and there is not a push (away from the status quo) and pull (to a new future) for people to change. In a rapidly changing world, the standing still means moving backwards. So how do you manage the range of reactions to change; communicate the right messages at the right time; adapt your approach to gain buy-in from your team; maintain momentum and ultimately ensure that the change is a success? This 2 x 1/2 day workshop will explore the manager's approach to change, through a facilitated, discussion-based workshop, which encourages reflection and pragmatic action-planning. You will also be introduced to a toolkit of techniques to help you manage change professionally and constructively.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the 2 x 1/2 days you will:. * Identify the range of attitudes and approaches to change that exist within your own team and overcome any resistance to change. * Know what it takes to be an influential and inspirational leader to drive change and improvements. * Develop an approach/strategy, tailored to your team's unique needs, that will allow you to mitigate the people impact of change. * Deploy a range of tools and techniques to help manage and support individuals and teams through change, whilst also understanding those approaches that may not be appropriate. * Know how to maintain momentum so you can successfully navigate your team to where the University needs you to be.
Who should attend this course: Any leader/manager who needs to support their team through change, or professionals who want to understand change and prepare themselves for when they lead change. It is also suitable for project leaders.
