The aims of the policy are:

i)     to promote the sensible and appropriate use of alcohol among employees, as it relates to the workplace;

ii)    to encourage, assist and support employees who may have a problem with alcohol - and to advise their managers - with a view to ensuring that the employee receives appropriate support in accordance with the University’s policy and guidance on alcohol and substance abuse

iii)   to support the University to fulfil its legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
