Doctoral Academic Writing

These workshops cover academic literacy, essay writing and study skills as well as looking at higher level scholarly writing and expectations for completing a research degree. Please click on the links below to sign up - Signing up for ONE session will automatically sign you up for all subsequent events. If you know that you have a timetable clash, but would still like access to the resources, email insessional@exeter.ac.uk.

Workshops specifically for Doctoral students of Business

These workshops are designed to equip Business School PGR students with the academic language and writing skills essential for doctoral success in the UK.

  • Workshop 2: Building Arguments - 3rd February 10.00-12.00 
    Develop your critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation skills to build strong, persuasive arguments in your writing. This workshop helps you communicate ideas effectively and present well-supported academic arguments in your research. 
  • Workshop 3: Coherence in Writing - 10th February 10.00-12.00 
    Enhance clarity and flow in your academic writing by using cohesive devices. This workshop equips you with the tools to create coherent, well-structured texts for effective communication of complex ideas. 
  • Workshop 4: Writing Research Proposals - 17th February 10.00-12.00 
    Develop your understanding of writing research proposals with a clear structure and persuasive language. This workshop supports you in presenting your research ideas convincingly, focusing on clarity, academic conventions, and effective proposal organization.
