“I applied for the MSci Nursing as it is an opportunity to have my BSc and Masters at the same time and MSci students are known to have a fast track career and more opportunities. My experience has been good, we have one day a week of clinical skills to practice what we have learnt. My first placement was in the Covid vaccination centre helping to administer vaccines to people and the Nightingale Hospital to assist and provide care to Covid affected patients. Working in both settings has been a great experience and has given me the understanding to help the diverse needs of patients.
I’m happy with the dual registration option which allows you to do adult nursing or adult and mental health nursing, which gives students another aspect of nursing. The staff are very helpful and supportive, having tutor sessions on how the course is going. "

“I really liked how the placements were organised in Exeter. You have one placement block per year which means that every time you go to one placement in a new hospital, you have at least 14 weeks there to settle in and understand how the department works. That way you can really focus on your own skills and be comfortable to push yourself out of your comfort zone by attempting examinations with more difficult patients because you feel you have that support there.
Our lecturers are really helpful and are willing to see us if we have any problems, they have an open door policy and make it clear from day one that you can see them or email them anytime."

"One of the things I like most about Exeter is that we're taught general nursing and mental health together. We're taught how to integrate them, so you can treat a patient for their leg wound and also provide them with some mental health care. Another thing is we're being taught how to conduct patient-specific research and influence their care based on our research."
