International students

Bianca

What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?

I always love learning, and this degree gave me the opportunity to explore various aspects of Law that I had not considered before. From interdisciplinary modules like Art and Law to core modules like Contract Law, I was able to learn, as well as apply my knowledge to real world problems. I would have never known my passion for Law without the opportunity to explore these modules with amazing lecturers.

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

My personal highlight was being part of the Exeter BAME Law Initiative. Each day I worked or volunteered to better the experiences of BAME and International students at Exeter which was so rewarding to me. I also have to say that the other highlight was the food trucks that came to campus every Wednesday - 5 stars.

What will you miss most about the University?

I'll miss the gorgeous Streatham campus, even the hills it took to get there. I'll miss the city centre too. Mostly, I'll miss my friends and the amazing people I got to meet and work with.

What advice would you give to students considering Exeter?

My experience as an international student was interesting. You will be exposed to things that you many never have experienced, and you may face culture shock (I know I did!) but whenever I struggled in my academic or social life, I would always tell myself that 'some of you is not the sum of you' and it became my mantra. One bad day or one bad grade doesn't define you. You are more than that. At uni, you will also need to work hard, but you also have to remember to have fun. Friends are important to keep you grounded. They will be your support system, and that is so important.
