Module description

Cash management and credit control are crucial aspects of financial management for businesses. Within this module we will explore the purpose and techniques of budgeting and forecasting required to manage revenue, expenditure and cash flow.
You will also investigate approaches to creating cash flow forecasts, and the use of technology to forecast, monitor and report on movements in an organisations' cash flows, calculate and interpret cash flow forecasts.
At the end of this module, you will be able to work within the legal and organisational framework for managing receivables, credit control, and internal and external relationships.
You will be able to identify the sources of finance that are available to organisations and evaluate the impact of different sources of finance on an organisation, including risk and recommend appropriate finance options. Furthermore, you will be able to advise organisations and implement technology to raise finance and maintain credit relationships and design and manage a compliant credit control system that meets strategic objectives regarding customers, insurers, and cash flow.

Module aims - intentions of the module

Credit and Debt Management
This module provides you with an understanding and application of the principles of effective credit control systems, including appropriate debt management systems. This includes the offer of credit terms to customers by organisations and the impact of late or non-payment on financial difficulties. You will also have the opportunity to explore the tools available and the techniques that can be used to assess credit risks in line with policies, relevant legislation and ethical principles. You will develop an understanding of liquidity management, bankruptcies and insolvencies, and also the mechanisms of invoice discounting, factoring and credit insurance.
Cash and Financial Management - involves the importance of managing cash within organisations and the knowledge and skills included will enable students to make informed decisions on financing and investment in accordance with organisational policies and external regulations. Students will prepare cash budgets considering the timing of transactions required to monitor the flow of cash into and out of organisations.

• How information is used to assess credit risk and grant credit in compliance with organisational policies and procedures0

Cash and Financial Management
• Prepare forecasts for cash receipts and payments
