Module description
The purpose of this module is to enable postgraduate students to attend a summer school programme at one of the school’s approved international partner institutions. Credits will be assessed by a combination of assessment taken during the summer school programme and assessment set by the Business School.
Student eligibility will be determined as part of an internal application process and selected students must receive approval from the Module Convenor. Programme options will be advertised to students during the academic year.

Module aims - intentions of the module
The aims of this module are to enable students to:
i) Critically reflect on the study of their summer school topic (normally business or language & culture oriented, but may also cover other academic areas, subject to approval of the Module Convenor)
ii) Critically evaluate their cross-cultural awareness and communication skills
iii) Evaluate the international perspectives of their chosen field of study
iv) Reflect on their learning and develop through the module as reflective practitioners.
The distinctive features of this module are:
i) An opportunity to select and explore a topic that is of interest to students and also relevant to their workplace or employment aspirations
ii) An opportunity to engage with other students from across the globe in an intensive study period
iii) An opportunity to develop and practice language skills and develop cross-cultural awareness during periods of study and socialisation.
iv) An opportunity to experience a different academic system, whilst gaining credits towards their Exeter Master’s degree

Information sessions / Study Plan at Exeter | 6 | A compulsory interview will determine successful candidates as part of the selection process. During Terms 1 and 2, the Study Abroad Team will deliver a series of information sessions, including an Academic Guidelines Briefing and a Pre-Departure Briefing, where attendance is mandatory. Students will also be required to complete a study plan for their allocated summer school. |

Re-assessment notes
Alternative assessments from the partner institution are not available. On a case-by-case basis, students may be able to take re-sits for the 80% credit value at the partner institution, where available and if they take place before the usual re-sit period at Exeter.
Indicative learning resources - Basic reading
An indication of learning resources will be provided by the respective convener of the summer school programme. Upon successful application to a particular programme students, will receive detailed information about the summer school programme and about learning resources prior to their arrival at the partner institution.

Module pre-requisites | Eligible students must be enrolled on the MSc International Management programme (2019/20) and MSc Management (2020/21 onwards). Student eligibility will be determined as part of an internal application process and selected students must receive approval from the Module Convenor Check individual summer school courses for pre-requisites, which will be approved by the module convenor via the provisional learning agreement and subject to final approval by the host institution. Eligible students should achieve at least 60% in semester one |
