Module description
The module integrates an in-depth exploration of business and management research with a focus on impact and contribution in scholarly pursuits. This includes exploring ongoing debates within management research, what a novel contribution to theory is and navigating applied impact. The module explores ethics and reflexivity in scholarship. It also develops research skills such as evaluating research contributions, navigating publishing processes, presenting findings effectively and securing funding. Through guest lectures led by leading researchers, students engage with seminal research and discuss its implications for theoretical, empirical and practice-based contributions within the management literature.

- Introduce you to key theoretical concepts that underpin business and management research.
- Highlight the importance of using theory in planning a research project that has an applied impact.
- Engage in a comprehensive exploration of research orientation, reflexivity and ethics in scholarship, emphasising their critical role in shaping research integrity and practice.
- Equip you with the skills and ability to share your research question with a broad range of audiences and contribute to academic discussions.
- Develop essential research skills vital for success, including literature review strategies, assessing research contributions, navigating the publishing and review process, effectively presenting research findings and securing funding.
- Enable you to interact with researchers from across the Business School.
