Module description
Developing your employability is a vital aspect of your time at university, as it prepares you for success in the wider world. This module allows you to begin working on your personal development from the time you begin university, maximising its effects. As well as working on your CV and finding opportunities for work experience, this module helps develop skills that will aid you in university life. Taking time to learn about essay writing, referencing and revision techniques will prove invaluable throughout your degree. You will also learn about the fantastic resources Exeter has to offer with regards to employability, volunteering and about opportunities available to you, such as the Exeter Award. Overall this module aims to help you begin the personal development necessary to succeed during and after your degree. There are no pre or co-requisites for this module and it is suitable for non-specialist students.
Module aims - intentions of the module
The aim of this module is to encourage learning and personal development through reflective practice. The module will do this by engaging you in a series of teaching sessions designed to highlight and develop a number of key skills which are essential for effective student learning and future employability. The sessions will be delivered in a theoretical and practical format requiring you to engage yourself in the specific topics. The workshops will be delivered every 1 - 2 weeks, supported by a self-organised independent study. In order to inspire you, a series of presentations from current staff and students will be incorporated throughout the year.
