Module description

This module is designed as a basic introduction to international business, introducing management concepts and supporting the application of theory, to interpret and analyse business in practice.  We all interact with international business as consumers, investors and employees making this module relevant to all, whether or not you plan to undertake further studies in international business.

Module aims - intentions of the module

This module aims to help you to develop a good understanding of the way international businesses operate and evaluate their importance and impact on society.  You will critically analyse a range of businesses from different perspectives.  You will develop your critical thinking and academic communication skills as well as developing an analytical and reflective approach to learning and management.

Re-assessment notes

Deferral – if you miss an element of assessment for reasons judged legitimate by the Mitigation Committee, the applicable assessment will normally be deferred. See ‘Details of reassessment’ for the form that assessment usually takes. When deferral occurs there is ordinarily no change to the overall weighting of that assessment:

 

Referral – if you have failed the module overall (i.e. a final overall module mark of less than 40%) you will be required to take a re-sit exam. Only your performance in this exam will count towards your final module grade. A grade of 40% will be awarded if the examination is passed.
