Module description
This optional course will focus on accurate use of academic English for the School of Education. The course is designed to support any students completing postgraduate degrees who speak English as a second or other language.
The course will cover expectations of postgraduate students at Exeter, academic reading and writing, seminar and discussion skills, presentation skills, use of sources, and specific aspects of English usage in academic contexts. The support workshops are designed to be a shared learning environment which allows the space for group discussion, pair work and small group work, and practice activities. Students attending the course should benefit from the content and practice tasks as they will be able to apply the skills to their assignments for their core modules.
In addition to the course sessions, there will be opportunities for follow-up activities, such as one-to-one tutorials.
