Module description
In this module, you will develop knowledge, understanding and application of human anatomy and physiology. The module draws on established knowledge from the scientific disciplines of anatomy and physiology that underpin sound practice in healthcare. The module introduces two and three dimensional radiographic images which you will learn to recognise and understand.
Module aims - intentions of the module
The aim of the module is to provide you with the knowledge of human anatomy and physiology needed for subsequent modules in the programme. You will apply this anatomical knowledge in the context of radiographic images. You will learn to recognise key anatomical features on projection radiographs, computed tomography and magnetic resonance images.
The core knowledge acquired from this module underpins, PAM2012 Pathology for Radiographers and PAM3006 Skeletal Image Interpretation as well as all practical imaging techniques.

Normal human anatomy
Axial skeleton: joints, associated musculature and other tissues.
Appendicular skeleton: joints, associated musculature and other tissues.
Head, thorax and abdomen: principal internal organs and associated structures.
Normal human physiology
Musculo-skeletal system, nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, renal and digestive systems. Sight and hearing, endocrine system + growth and development, reproductive physiology.
Development and change of normal human anatomy
Axial skeleton.
Appendicular skeleton.
Normal variations of human anatomy
Axial skeleton: joints, associated musculature and other tissues.
