Pre-University Physics Course

Each summer we run our very popular Pre-University Physics Course. This course is for Year 12 students who are studying Physics or Physical Sciences at pre-university (AS) level and who are considering applying to study Physics or related subjects at university.

This course provides a taste of university life in all its diversity. During the three-day programme you will attend a wide range of lectures, see Physics research in action in our research laboratories and take part in hands-on Physics activities in our teaching laboratories. You will live in university student accommodation on campus and make use of our sport and social facilities.

The teaching programme is led by top academics in the field of Physics and Astrophysics. Students learn about the research that the department is involved in as well as finding out where a Physics degree could take you. A number of Exeter Student Ambassadors, who are current students, live and work alongside you and lead the activity programme. All Student Ambassadors are DBS checked and trained to a high standard specifically for Summer Schools.

Streatham Campus, University of Exeter

The Streatham Campus, the University's largest site in Exeter, is built around a country estate overlooking the city and is readily acknowledged as one of the most beautiful in the country. Many students say they simply fell in love with the campus when they came to visit - its lakes, parkland, woodland and gardens make it a very special place that offers a safe and enjoyable environment for study.

The teaching buildings, together with the Sports Park, the library, the Forum, accommodation and cafes are all within walking distance of each other. We have recently invested £400,000 in our undergraduate Physics teaching laboratories, as well as opening our new Observatory for undergraduates.

The course will be held from 26th - 28th July 2017.
