First Day on Campus

Your first day at the University (on the St Luke’s campus) will depend on which course you are doing:

The taught element of PGCE Primary programme starts here at St Luke’s Campus on Monday 23 September 2019.  The programme for the day will be:

09.30 – 10.00    Registration, Baring Court Foyer
10.00 – 11.30    Meet in pathway groups  
11.30 – 12.30    Lunch
12.30– 14.30     Meet in pathway groups 
14:30 – 15:00    Coffee break
15.00 – 16:30    Welcome lecture  

The timetable for the rest of the first week will be your normal timetable and you will be given this on your first day. However, the Primary PGCE programme is very full and you can assume that on most days you will be occupied all day with either taught sessions or independent study. If for childcare or other reasons, you need more specific information about your subject timetable, you may wish to contact your pathway leader; the Info at St Luke’s team (info.stlukes@exeter.ac.uk) can provide contact details.

The taught element of PGCE Secondary programme starts here at St Luke’s Campus on Monday 30 September 2019.  On arrival please check the room lists posted on the North Cloisters noticeboards to find out which room your subject group will be meeting in.  The programme for the day will be:

9.00am - Main Subject Meetings: Welcome and Introductions

During the morning - Introductory lecture

Afternoon - Main Subject Meetings continued

The timetable for the rest of the first week will be your normal subject timetable and you will be given this at your main subject meetings. However, the Secondary PGCE programme is very full and you can assume that on most days you will be occupied all day with either taught sessions or independent study. School Direct Distance fee-paying and salaried trainees will start their training in their placement schools at the beginning of September 2019.  Your lead school will confirm your exact start date and provide you with more detailed first day instructions.

In order that we can introduce you to the PGCE online modules, you will attend our School Direct (distance) Induction Day on Friday 06 September 2019, here at the St Luke’s campus.  Registration will be at 9.30am and the day will end by 5pm.  Your school will make the necessary arrangements for you to attend.
