PGCE School Direct Pre-Course Information 2017/18

Please check below for the different types of School Direct provision offered through the University of Exeter and then follow the instructions for the route that is appropriate to you:

School Direct @Exeter:

School Direct @Exeter route trainees attend the taught Masters level PGCE programme at the university during the Autumn term attending sessions alongside the core PGCE trainees. They are registered with the university and are eligible for training bursaries and student loans.They are based in school in September, before the taught course starts and in periods of non-contact time during the autumn term. They spend their time during the spring and summer terms either in their main placement school or in their second placement school (2nd placement will be a minimum of 6 weeks), arranged by the lead school plus 5 individual seminar days back at the University .  Trainees on the School Direct @Exeter route should download the relevant documents below and complete all tasks requested:

School Direct (Distance) - Fee-paying:

School Direct (distance) fee-paying route trainees are based entirely in schools for the academic year (except for one induction day at the St Luke's Campus in September). They are registered with the university and are eligible for training bursaries and student loans. The Masters modules are delivered by distance learning, through two online 30-credit modules, plus other online tools.  Trainees are based in one school for the majority of their training but have a second school placement of at least 6 weeks.  Both placements are arranged by the lead school.

Trainees on the School Direct (distance) fee-paying route will receive pre-course information and tasks directly from their lead school, including details of a School Direct Induction Day at the University on 11 September which they are required to attend.  They will also receive (via post and email) information on suggested pre-course reading from the University - see below for a copy of this:

The Masters modules are delivered by distance learning, through two online 30-credit modules, plus other online tools.  Trainees are based in one school for the majority of their training but have a second school placement of at least 6 weeks.  Both placements are arranged by the lead school.
