Summer Internships

The Translational Research Exchange @ Exeter (TREE) summer internships offers 4 final year undergraduate students the opportunity to take part in a 6 -8 week research project with an academic supervisor (to be organised with student/supervisor before submission). This programme will take place between July and September 2021 and has been developed to support undergraduate students who, due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been unable to gain vital wet lab experience.

At the end of the internship, the TREE directors will require a 1000 word report of outcomes from the project and the students will be asked to present their findings at a TREE ISSF event at the end of the project period in October.

You can apply for a Translational Research Exchange @ Exeter (TREE) summer internship if you are studying for an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and you are interested in gaining research experience.

Examples of relevant subjects include:

-        science (including biomedical, natural, computing or physical sciences)

-        medicine

-        engineering

-        mathematics

Please see Wellcome Trust remits:

You must be a University of Exeter undergraduate student and must be in your final year of your degree and have not yet undertaken a substantial period of research. However, the summer internship can be undertaken at different institutions across the UK.

We particularly encourage students from groups that are currently underrepresented in postgraduate science research, including black and minority ethnic (BME) students and those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as those with caring responsibilities.
