Admissions terms and conditions

Every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in the prospectus and on the University website is correct at the time of going to press. The University will use reasonable endeavours to deliver programmes and other services in accordance with the descriptions provided.

However, changes may be reasonably required to programmes, modules, entry requirements, services delivered by the University or the content of the Prospectus, for example, to meet the requirements of an accrediting body or to keep courses current and accurate or to respond to changes which are outside the reasonable control of the University i.e. a member of staff leaving the University or to maintain standards of student experience. Other circumstances outside the University’s control would include, but not be limited to, third party industrial action, unexpected lack of funding, government restrictions, health and safety considerations, fire, etc. Where such a change arises, we will notify you as early as possible and address the matter in accordance with the Terms and Conditions set out on our website.

In the event that, prior to the student commencing the first term of study for any programme described in this Prospectus, the University discontinues the programme or makes material changes to the programme, the student may either (1) withdraw from the University without any liability for fees; or (2) transfer to such other programme (if any) as may be offered by the University for which the student is qualified. If in these circumstances the student wishes to withdraw from the University and to enrol in a course at a different University, the University shall use its reasonable endeavours to assist the student.

Once the student has commenced the first term of study, if:

(a) the University’s ability to deliver programmes or other services in accordance with the descriptions provided is compromised by circumstances beyond the control of the University as set out above and this results in material changes to the programme (or delivery of the programme), the University will use all reasonable endeavours to minimise disruption as far as it is practical to do so;

(b) the programme is cancelled or substantially varied from that described in the Prospectus for reasons other than circumstances beyond the University's reasonable control, the University will use reasonable endeavours to provide a suitable alternative programme. If the student does not wish to accept the alternative programme, the student shall be entitled to withdraw from the programme. In the event of such withdrawal, the University shall provide appropriate compensation capped at a maximum of a refund of course fees, where it believes there is a fair case to do so.

The UCAS codes are correct at the time of going to press, but are subject to change, therefore you should check with the UCAS course search facility when you make your application.

It is very important that you read carefully the terms of your offer as communicated to you in this letter and via UCAS. If you are unsure about anything, please contact us for clarification. Remember that the official offer is only that which we communicate to you through UCAS.

For details of our admissions policy please go to our undergraduate study website.

Please ensure that you read carefully through all terms and conditions.

Please note, that for students holding a Tier 4 student visa this will result in the appropriate withdrawal report to the UKVI and visa curtailment.

The University is cognisant of its duties under the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, which requires higher education institutions to maintain a Student Protection Plan to protect students’ interests in the case of material change, eg programme changes, suspensions, closures, or institutional closure. The University will always aim to ensure that there are no material changes to a student’s experience while at university. However this is not always possible due to a number of factors, some of which may be beyond the University’s control. Therefore the Student Protection Plan (pdf) looks to detail the University’s plans for material changes and how it would mitigate for such changes.

The University will seek to communicate any changes to students as early as possible, with clear information and options, and will take all reasonable steps to minimise the resultant disruption to services and to affected students.

In preparation for your arrival at the University we would like to share some of your personal information (such as full name, date of birth, Exeter Student Number, your email address/es and your University of Exeter username (once allocated) with the Guild of Students. In circumstances where the University needs to consult a third party organisation in order to clarify degree certificates and transcripts in order to make a decision we would like to share your information. If you could benefit from pre-departure assistance we might refer your application onto our network of appointed agents in country. If you do not wish us to share your information with approved third party organisations you can opt out by emailing ad-data-share@exeter.ac.uk within the next 10 working days. Registration as a full-time member of the University confers full membership of the Students' Guild (students studying on the Streatham or St Luke's campuses) or the Students' Union (students studying on our Penryn Campus). However, in accordance with the terms of the Education Act 1994, all students of the University have the right not to be members of the Students’ Guild.

Those exercising that right will have the same access to premises and facilities and services provided by the Guild/FXU, but in accordance with the Constitution of the Guild/FXU will not be eligible to speak or vote in meetings of the Guild/FXU or participate in election of officers of the Guild/FXU or vote in referenda.

Car parking on all our campuses is severely restricted and charged for and students are therefore discouraged from bringing a car to the University. Campus car-parking permits will not be issued to students in catered halls, in self-catering University accommodation or in private accommodation within a restricted area from the campus, with the exception of blue badge holders, unless there is a medical reason which makes a permit necessary.
