Muslim

Islam began in Arabia and was revealed to humanity by the Prophet Muhammad. Those who follow Islam are called Muslims. Muslims believe that there is only one God. The Arabic word for God is Allah.

Students' Guild Society

Winners of University of Exeter Students' Guild 'Student Group of the Year' (2012/13) & FOSIS South 'Most Outstanding Islamic Society' (2012/13), Exeter Islamic Society provides a platform for those individuals both from an Islamic and non-Islamic background to further their knowledge about Islam.

Through a combination of regular guest speakers, film screenings, social events, sports and art activities such as our yearly Spoken Word Poetry event, we provide a platform for our members to enhance their creativity whilst simultaneously enabling them to access a range of resources regarding Islam.

Our affiliation with the umbrella organisation FOSIS (Federation of Student Islamic Societies) ensures that our members are given access to events and opportunities throughout both Exeter and the UK, alongside providing us with the opportunity to attract internationally acclaimed speakers.

Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies

The Institute also organises various conferences, seminars and a lecture series featuring distinguished global scholars and public figures. Visit the College of Social Sciences and International Studies for further information. The Institute is based on the Streatham Campus, near Peter Chalk and the Physics Building at the top of Streatham Drive.
