Overview

Role

As Manager of the South West Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications (SWCoESA), Conrad leads delivery of initiatives to help entrepreneurs and innovative organisations develop and commercialise space technologies and satellite applications.

By engaging with a wide range of relevant beneficiaries, he builds robust collaborations across industries and academia, in order to create technological opportunities, leverage scientific research, generate value and drive impact for regional growth.

He aims to establish a dynamic network of SWCoESA ‘Open Space’ hubs, to support regional space-enabled businesses across multidisciplinary sectors, including Agritech, eHealth, Marine and Mining.

With over twenty years of management experience in diverse sectors, Conrad is well networked within the fields of Advanced Engineering, Emerging Technologies, Data Science, Geospatial Intelligence, Physical Sciences and Space.

Conrad joined the University in April 2017, previously as the Impact & Partnership Development Manager for ‘Emerging & Enabling Technologies’ and ‘Data Science’.

Profile

Prior to joining the University, Conrad was the ‘Innovation & Data Services Manager’ for South West Water, where he supervised three business improvement teams developing and implementing innovative, data-driven technical solutions (including drone aerial surveying services). Conrad was also ‘Project & Quality Assurance Manager’ for Moneycorp Group, and ‘CAD Project Manager’ for Specsavers Optical Group.

Outside of work he enjoys surfing, photography, snowboarding, drones and stand-up paddleboarding.
