Role

Lindsey is an Impact and Partnership Development Manager (IPDM) in the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) team.

Lindsey’s role is a partnership between the University of Exeter, Exeter City Futures and Exeter City Council, with the intention of understanding, facilitating and complementing community engagement activities by the three partner organisations, in the Exeter area.

Exeter City Futures has set a bold goal to make the region congestion free and energy independent by 2025. Through engaging with communities across the city, we hope to understand the challenges that the people of Exeter believe our city is facing, in order to be able to plan and respond to them.

Lindsey will be looking for ways of sharing expertise and generating new opportunities for engaged research with academics with interests relating to reducing energy use and congestion in the Exeter locality. 

Profile

Lindsey has more than twenty years of research experience, working within the agrochemical and medical industries in the UK and Australia, as well as the UK University and not-for-profit sector. Lindsey joined the Peninsula Medical School in 2007 as a Research Fellow in Child Health where she coordinated the NIHR-HTA funded National Collaborative Study of Lysosomal Storage Disorders (NCS-LSD) longitudinal cohort study. Meaningful engagement with patient advocate groups throughout all stages of this study was integral to the success of this project.

Lindsey later worked with a team within the Child Health Group of the University of Exeter Medical School, to co-create an intervention to prevent obesity in young people. Working with a group of young people, she created a Young Persons’ Advisory Group, comprising teenagers with an interest in health and wellbeing, who became research partners. Concurrently, Lindsey also spent three years working on the Cochrane Cardiac Rehabilitation Review Programme, writing Cochrane systematic reviews of rehabilitation interventions for patients with heart disease.
