Medical Mycology Project

Planning is underway for a number of world leading researchers in the field of Medical Mycology to join the University, from Aberdeen in September this year.

This move will complement and enhance our existing strength in living systems, life sciences and medicine, and will help to place Exeter at the forefront of fungal research.

This move will help the University to develop opportunities and structures for collaborative research across our disciplines, and will have a significant impact on the future of the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of fungal diseases.

The researchers are expected to join the University in September this year and will be located in the Geoffrey Pope building. Work is ongoing to ensure the successful transition of this group to Exeter and our thriving research community.

A key part of this work involves a number of internal moves and some reconfiguration of laboratory areas to not only accommodate the new Mycology group but to also ensure that colleagues who are relocating to either the LSI or Hatherly, have the space and facilities they need. This is a complex task and a project team is in place to manage this process.
