Beyond the Showcase

2023 is the first year that we are producing a collection of entries. This document will be a place where all this year’s entries are stored and can be viewed on Issu or as a PDF on this page.

This collection will not be physically printed, as the online interactive journal makes it accessible for our video submissions.

Please note that submission into the Undergraduate Research Showcase (UGRS) is automatic entry to the collection. Contribution to the UGRS Collection will depend on intellectual property and who owns the research. If research has been conducted as part of a group and permission has not been granted from all parties for publication, the submission will not be included.

This page will be updated with the finished collection after the 2023 Showcase has finished.

Looking for other opportunities?

Below, is a list of journal opportunities found within the university, run by societies and departments. You might wish to get your research published in one of these journals after entering the Showcase.

Please note that these journals might not accept abstracts, posters or videos and might only accept research written in essay form. Acceptance into our Showcase does not guarantee publication in any of the below journals.

If you are involved with a journal at the University of Exeter and it is not on this list, please get in touch with UGresearch@exeter.ac.uk.

Please also note that some of the below journals are for postgraduates only.

Are you a postgraduate research student?

Postgraduate research students (PGRs) can enter their research into the Postgraduate Research Showcase run each year by the Doctoral College.

There are three different competitions to get involved with:

  • Poster Competition
  • Three Minute Thesis Competition
  • Tweet Your Thesis

The PGR Showcase usually runs in May. Find out more information on the Doctoral College website.

Are you currently preparing a dissertation or research project that you would like to exhibit?

The Undergraduate Research Showcase is an annual event, and we would love for you to get involved.

We are currently accepting submissions for our 2023 Showcase, however, if you don't feel ready to submit this year, there is always next year.

Details about UGRS 2024 are yet to be confirmed.

Call for submissions: Undergraduate Science Journal 2023

Register your interest in submitting a comment piece or article by the 15th December 2022.

The UgSJ was launched in 2017 and is a fantastic opportunity to get yourself published. Have you carried out any original research which would make a good 1200-1500 word article? It could be a lab-based project or a literature review. Or have you an assignment that could be edited down to make a 750-1000 word opinion piece?

If the answer is yes, then get in touch to register your interest and you could find yourself in the next issue which will be published in the new year. Email us with a brief summary of your idea or article.
