Learning Design Team
The Learning Design Service focuses on the intersection of pedagogy and technology. Providing expert advice and guidance to educators, we collaborate in the design of pedagogically sound and inclusive learning and assessment experiences. We actively encourage and enable the sharing of good practice across our learning community, advising on both physical and online learning spaces design. Alongside Learning Development, we ensure our edtech tools and platforms meet the educational requirements of the University underpinned by a forward focused and dynamic edtech strategy.
We believe in a collaborative approach to curriculum design. From the initial stages of program approval to the ongoing refinement of existing modules, we can work closely with you and your programme team to help design inclusive and engaging learning experiences that align to the University’s Curriculum for Change principles. Our support spans the entire spectrum of curriculum design, from shaping whole programmes through to individual modules or addressing a specific learning objective or activity. Committed to removing barriers to learning, we are guided by the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines.
We can work with you to redesign or create formative and summative assessments which are authentic and inclusive. This will include advice regarding which digital tools can be used to support assessments that accommodate diverse student needs, and ensure assessment practice is aligned to the Curriculum for Change and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. We can work in partnership to design rubrics and provide guidelines for constructive feedback, including how that feedback can support ongoing learning activities and future assessment in the module.
IPAC Pilot
We are working with colleagues in Learning Development to pilot the 'Individual Peer Assessed Contribution (IPAC) tool'. We are piloting this tool hoping that staff and students will benefit and to improve the use of peer assessment at the university. There are many pedagogic benefits for incorporating peer assessment including enhancing understanding of assessment criteria, development of team skills and development of deeper reflection skills.
