Editor of Outfit, Ian Pogonowski.

Digital award for new magazine

A graduate, who launched his own magazine this July, has already scooped a Cornish business award.

Ian Pogonowski (English Literature 2011) who studied on the Penryn Campus, decided to set up his own business after finding it hard to find a graduate job which would enable him to stay in Cornwall.

He combined his passion for sport, culture, outdoors life and technology, and built on his degree to create the digital magazine Outfit Cornwall. The magazine is a monthly publication which utilises interactive digital technology including videos, photo galleries and click & buy facilities. The fifth edition was launched earlier this month.

“If you have a fit body you have a fit mind. This leads into your daily life including your fashion, education, health and relationships,” said Ian. “Outfit covers much more but our premise is the same: Get outside, be fit and live the best life you can!”

Outfit won the Best use of Digital category in the recent Hub Awards which recognise Cornwall’s business talent. The judges commented that it was 'an incredibly well executed product that is making a great use of digital for its target market.'

“I didn’t want to create another blog. I wanted to create a high quality unique publication for Cornwall’s active, social and cultural lifestyle,” added Ian. “I want people to turn to Outfit Cornwall when planning their holidays here, and to take away inspiration on how to live life when not in Cornwall.”

Ian said he sees the digital revolution as the way forward and wants to be a leading force in the publishing market in the future.
