STEM Careers Fair

The details below refer to our 2017 event which has now taken place. It is retained for information purposes only. The date and price structure for our 2018 fair will be provided in due course.

This fair is open to current Exeter students from all years and disciplines of study but will be most suited to those students in our College of Engineering, Mathematics & Physical Sciences (CEMPS), College of Life and Environmental Sciences (CLES) and Medical School (UEMS). This includes those studying Physics, Mathematics, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Electronic and Renewable Energy), Computer Science, Biosciences, Geography (Physical and Human), Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences and Medical Sciences - over 2,500 in total.

The fair will provide the perfect opportunity for you to raise your profile amongst our students and promote any opportunities you may have. Students will use the event to meet with organisation representatives, learn more about the possible career pathways available and investigate further study options.  

Organisations exhibit to promote their internships, placements, graduate vacancies and post-graduate courses. Please note this fair is not suitable for those offering volunteering opportunities.

Most companies are eligible for our standard rate of £450+VAT except where special rates apply (please see below).    

  • Agency Rate - £550+VAT - all recruitment agencies and jobs portals.
  • Charity and Local Employer Rate £200+VAT - registered charities directly recruiting to own organisation for paid positions, professional bodies and Cornwall, Devon and Somerset based SMEs (fewer than 250 staff).

Due to high demand for this event, we recommend submitting your booking form promptly. Please note we limit the number of spaces available to recruitment agencies and jobs portals (specialising in graduate recruitment only), to a maximum of three. Limited spaces are available for those who are eligible for our discounted rate and are allocated at our discretion.

The charges include:

  • A stand space (2m width x 1.5m depth x 2m height)
  • One table and 2 chairs
  • An electrical point
  • A standard entry in our fair booklet
  • Hyperlink from the Career Zone’s website to your organisation’s website.
  • Wi-Fi access
  • Lunch for 2 exhibitors (additional lunches will be chargeable)
  • Tea, coffee, mineral water and biscuits available throughout the day
  • Car parking permit for 1 vehicle (additional parking spaces will be chargeable)

Where applicable invoicing will take place after the event. Failure to provide accurate invoicing details may result in a processing fee of up to £30.

Sponsorship for 2017 has been secured. 

A hot lunch will be available for exhibitors at the nearby Terrace Restaurant from 11:30. Tickets are distributed to exhibitors on the day.

Additional lunches can be booked in advance. They are charged at £6.50+VAT per head (inclusive of tea, coffee, water and biscuits throughout the day). 

The fair will take place in the Great Hall, University of Exeter, Stocker Road, Exeter, Devon EX4 4PZ. The event will be open to students from 11:30-14.30.

Access to the building is from 08:30 to 17:00. Student helpers will be available throughout these times to assist.

In 2016 the fair attracted 70 exhibitors and had approximately 1200 students. You can view a selection of last year's exhibitors' comments below:

Deliveries in advance of the fair date will only be accepted on Monday 6th November between 09:00 - 16:00. Deliveries on the day are not accepted. All deliveries are the responsibility of the exhibiting organisation. The University of Exeter cannot accept responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, items that are delivered to campus.

It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to ensure that any goods for collection are packaged and labelled accordingly. Items must be collected no later than 17:00 on the day of the fair.

Cancellation must be received in writing by emailing Natalie Luscombe, Employer Liaison Officer (gradrec@exeter.ac.uk) by Wednesday 20th September 2017. Cancellations received after this date will result in the full cost being incurred. Failure to attend the Fair, regardless of reason, will result in the full charge being levied.
