University’s Jewish Society wins national award

The University of Exeter Students’ Guild Jewish Society, Exeter JSoc, has been nationally recognised after being awarded ‘Best Developing JSoc 2012’ by the National Union of Jewish Students (UJS).

The honour was presented in front of over 200 Jewish students at the UJS annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday 1 April.

“Exeter Jewish Society President Ben Salamon has worked tirelessly to develop and maintain an active and dynamic society with events both in town and on campus,” said University of Exeter Jewish Chaplain Robin Kanarek.

Recently, the Jewish Society held a night of Jewish stand up comedians at the Barnfield Theatre. The Society has also been involved with the Exeter Synagogue and its community for meals, services, festivals and other occasions.

"Jewish students are tremendously hard working and achieve amazing things on campuses across the country," said Daniel Grabiner, UJS president.
