Exeter Guild wins gold environment award

Green Impact is an environmental accreditation scheme that recognises students’ unions efforts to green their working environment and change environmental behaviours.

The Students’ Guild also won the Slow Food Better Eating award at the annual Green Impact Awards 2012, which took place at the Manchester Mercure Piccadilly Hotel last week. This  award provides national recognition of the work that the Guild’s Slow Food On Campus students undertake at Exeter and their involvement with the Exeter Community Garden.

“Students’ Unions have often long been at the forefront of environmental campaigning and since 2005 NUS Green Impact has been helping students’ unions to green themselves, their universities and their communities,” says Dannie Grufferty NUS Vice-President (Society and Citizenship).

A total of 41 students’ unions were awarded Gold Green Impact accreditation, while 24 unions landed silver and 23 unions achieved bronze status. A further 14 unions were recognised as working towards accreditation.
