Exeter students empowered to go green

The students receive specialist training and networking opportunities, thereby becoming involved in international collaborative efforts to push forward sustainable change.

The project has enabled the University of Exeter Students’ Guild to recruit five graduates into full-time internships, providing them with high-quality experience in the sustainability sector. Since October 2013 they have been developing ties with academics at the university and with numerous external organisations.

At the heart of this initiative is a range of student-led projects. Following a series of workshops, run both by the interns and university staff, students submitted proposals and after a rigorous selection process 16 projects are being funded and supported over the coming year. From energy consumption to ethical food choices, and from water security to waste reduction, students are being empowered with the support of leading academics and professionals to engage with current issues.
