Postgraduate studies

We always welcome the opportunity to meet with prospective postgraduate students. Please do get in touch if you are interested in any of our courses.

MA Theology and Religion

The MA Theology offers serious engagement with the Bible and other key texts, the interdisciplinary study of Theology in relation to disciplines including philosophy, history, anthropology, sociology, archaeology and literary and cultural criticism, training in research methodologies and the option to develop expertise in biblical languages and also Latin, patristic Greek and Aramaic.

MA by Research Theology and Religion

The MA by Research Theology and Religion contains no taught element and offers the opportunity to pursue a research project, without entering into the commitment of a PhD. The programme is intended both as an award in its own right or as a progression route to a PhD.

MPhil/PhD Theology and Religion

The MPhil/PhD Theology and Religion offers the opportunity to pursue a research project in an area relating to the research interests of the Department. Key themes include scriptural hermeneutics, applied theology, environmental ethics, theological aesthetics and the role of theology in the public sphere. There is also a cluster of work on placing religious texts from the Eastern Mediterranean in their religious, social and political contexts.
