Mandy McBain is a Client Account Manager for Stonewall, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Equality Charity, working with organisations that are based in the South West. She also continues to work with the Armed Services and UK Security Services due to her background of having served in the Royal Navy for 25 years until 2012. 

During her career in the Royal Navy, Mandy had a variety of challenging and interesting roles and became a Diversity and Inclusion specialist. She was awarded an MBE in the 2012 New Year Honours list for her contributions to the inclusivity agenda for the Naval Service, wider defence and internationally. Mandy developed the first Naval Service Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Forum which received formal recognition in the Service and helped to develop other minority networks which remain today.

Mandy has spoken at many events, to different sectors including large corporate organisations, universities, the Law Society and has also represented the MOD in The Hague, Bosnia and had the honour of opening the 2011 Amsterdam Canal Pride. She has also contributed to numerous publications and research, and advised US Military Policy makers prior to the repeal of their ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy. Mandy’s contributions were published in a book: ‘Managing Diversity in the Military: The value of inclusion in a culture of uniformity’. Mandy is a passionate advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion and understands the importance of raising awareness of this in the workplace in order that every person is able to fulfil their ambition.
