Why study Accountancy or Taxation Professional (ACCA) Degree Apprenticeship MSc at Exeter?

  • A flexible programme designed for those who are keen to progress their Accountancy careers by obtaining the full ACCA qualification, whilst studying towards their MSc.
  • Those who have successfully completed our Level 6 Accounting Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship will already have gained full exemption from the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams, which is a requirement of entry.

Course content

Integrative in its design and delivery, this apprenticeship is for those who wish to progress on to the next stage of their career, by gaining full ACCA qualifications and an MSc from the University of Exeter.

In year one, students will sit one compulsory module, and choose two modules from four options.  Those options are:

  • Advanced Financial Management
  • Advanced Performance Management
  • Advanced Taxation
  • Advanced Audit and Assurance.

Compulsory module:

  • Strategic Business Reporting

In year two, two, students will complete one compulsory module:

  • EPA – Strategic Business Leader and Project Report.

ACCA - the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a global body for professional accountants. It's a leading accountancy qualification for aspiring financial professionals.

Entry requirements

This programme has been designed as a follow-on course for those completing our Accounting Finance Manager degree apprenticeship, as this gains apprentices maximum exemptions for study with ACCA.

How to apply

Our Accountancy or Taxation Professional Apprenticeship does not follow the standard UCAS application process. To gain a place candidates must apply directly to one of our employer partners’ vacancies.

Candidates can apply to this programme in addition to making applications to any institution through UCAS. When vacancies are open they will be advertised by our employer partners and on University of Exeter Degree Apprenticeship website.

Please be aware that employers start their recruitment at different times of the year so please be sure to check regularly.

  • Vacancies are advertised by employers and promoted through our current vacancies page when they become available.
  • Candidates should apply through their chosen company's website via the links which are available on this page once vacancies become live.
  • Candidates are welcome to apply for more than one vacancy.
  • Please be aware that each company will have their own recruitment process, the stages and timelines may vary.
  • If applicants are successful they will be offered a position as an apprentice with the company.
  • An apprenticeship place on the programme will be confirmed by University of Exeter, and we will send further information about how to enrol as a student.

Fees and Funding

Funding band: £21,000 for those eligible for funding.  Commercial funding available.

From 1 January 2026, Level 7 apprenticeships will only be government-funded for apprentices who, at the start of their apprenticeship training, are either aged 16-21, or aged under 25 and have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan and/or have been, or are, in the care of their local authority. Any individual who started a level 7 apprenticeship before 1 January 2026 will continue to be funded through to completion.

Employers must pay their apprentices a salary at least consistent with national legislation.

Funding eligibility criteria

To be eligible for funding the apprentice must meet the criteria listed in the Department for Education guidance.

The apprentice must have a valid and eligible residency status to gain entry onto the apprenticeship.
