University of Exeter Digital Skills Web App makes services and information available to staff of the University of Exeter and any use is subject to the IG and IT legislation and Policies. Your data
The University of Exeter Digital Skills web app uses data from your University staff records to deliver personalised services based on your role, department and contract.
Only University of Exeter staff can access Digital Skills and you are required to be logged in to access the service. In addition, specific sections use your data in the following ways:
- Self-Assessment Quiz – Displays relevant ‘Profiles’ to your role (using your department and contract information so that you have a personalised and more relevant experience. Your information is supplied from iTrent.
- Email to manager – Uses your email and manager’s email to send a customisable list of ‘suggested resources’, this is optional.
- Dashboard – Displays personalised information about you based on your responses to the Self-Assessment Quiz and suggested resources. This information is saved.
- Feedback or Support -if you complete the form, this stores the information you have provided in a secure location (SharePoint) visible to relevant staff.
Statistics and analytics
The University of Exeter Digital Skills web app uses basic statistics being gathered so the University can understand how the platform is used. This includes clicks/menu choices, timestamps and device type. When you use The University of Exeter Digital Skills web app data is stored using a user identifier you logged in with. Some sections of The University of Exeter Digital Skills web app may link out to external websites or services. Providing a link does not mean that the University approves of the content, service or its provider, and the University is not responsible for any external content or service.
Some decision-makers (managers, directors, senior leaders etc.) are able to see aggregated (not personally identifiable) data covering areas such as Self-Assessment confidence scores, number of completed Self-Assessment Quizzes, most popular search terms for Library resources, most liked resources etc. This list is not exhaustive and more aggregated data may be used for other purposes over time.
