Welcome to the Information for Contractors website

The University of Exeter is committed to providing a safe working environment. This commitment extends to all Estate Services contractors, subcontractors and suppliers of services to our campuses and properties. Our aim is for everyone to go home healthy, nothing is so urgent, or important, that we cannot take time to do it safely.

The Contractor Online Induction has been developed to outline the requirements of contractors undertaking works (construction, maintenance, etc.) for, or on behalf of the University.

As a prior condition to commencing any work within any one of our campuses, contractors are required to complete the Contractor Online Induction (please follow the steps below) to ensure an understanding of the Estate Services management systems and to provide specific rules for working on site.

By completing this induction, it is intended that all Estate Services contractors working within the University will be able to play their role in maintaining a safe workplace for all.

Any failure to follow these rules can result in:

  • you or others around you being harmed or suffering injuries
  • your immediate removal from the site
  • your company’s removal from the University
  • your company’s removal of the University’s Contractors List, and
  • you and/or your company being fined and/or prosecuted by WorkCover.

Before coming onto site for the first time please follow the steps below:

This questionnaire is designed to support your understanding of the videos you have just watched. It is a requirement that this is to be completed and submitted before you commence work on site.

How to apply to provide construction and maintenance services

The University operates an e-marketplace place for many of it’s purchases. In addition, there are a number of frameworks that we work with, to provide both products and services. For more information on these and the tender process please see our procurement supplier information page.

Supplier audits

As a service in line with our Health & Safety commitments, we will regularly carry out audits on our contractor work. Our staff will, on occasions, complete both Health & Safety Spot Checks and Quality Checks, on site with our contractors. Completed audits can be supplied upon request.

Any concerns that we have during an audit, will be addressed with you at the time and corrected where possible. Equally, we would like to share with you excellence compliance on a regular bases, in support of good working relationships.
