Abstract
Abstract: Generative AI is reshaping the job market for economists, and with it, the skills our students will need. This evolving landscape calls for a thoughtful reimagining of economics curricula—reconsidering both what we teach and how we teach it. While much of the current discussion around GenAI centers on concerns about academic integrity, this talk explores how the technology might be used to enrich economics education. Drawing on two recent scholarship projects, I consider the potential of GenAI as a tutor in introductory economics courses and as a research assistant in a final-year, research-based course. This is a work in progress, and feedback and discussion are warmly welcomed as we navigate how to adapt teaching and assessment to this new reality.
