Garry Tregidga

Garry Tregidga is a co-Director of the Institute of Cornish Studies at the University of Exeter. He was awarded a PhD for his research relatng to regional politics in the far South West of Britain in the twentieth century. This interest in political culture led him to establish the Cornish Democracy Unit at the Institute that has been responsible for producing a series of books and research papers relating to devolution and related issues of governance and identity. Garry's broader research interests in recent years cover the Celtic Revival, ethnomusicology and oral traditions in Cornwall and the other Celtic nations. He is Director of the Cornish Story programme (www.cornishstory.com) that builds on the pioneering oral history work of the Cornish Audio Visual Archive and is Research Director and Chairman of  Rescorla, a cultural and educational centre based in Mid Cornwall, that works in association with the Institute at the community level.
