Kiera S-Roberts
Kiera S-Roberts is currently an MPhil Cornish Studies student with ICS, with her focus being on the Classical musical depictions of Cornwall and their sociological impact.
Kiera began her work with the Institute in 2018 whilst an undergraduate student at the University of Chichester Conservatoire, when she was approached to contribute work for Cornish Story, the Institute’s Living Archive platform. Her first article on The Dolphin Inn, Penzance was published in September of that year. Kiera also won the inaugural Cornish Story Short Story Competition in 2019 for her piece “Whatever Is Left.”
She has also given two talks for ICS: “Three Cornish Overtures: A Brief Musicological Exploration” and “The Picturesque: What Does It Say About How We Interpret Culture?” as well as performing for two Resorla Festivals, accompanying the late Alan M Kent as a musician for live soundtracked poetry readings.
As well as her research, Kiera is a professional opera singer, theatre producer, stage manager, sound and lighting designer, and script consultant.
