Our expert metamaterials team offers academic input for cutting edge ideas to tackle next generation innovation by way of several alternatives to suit the brief and needs of our industry partners. We will work with you through the process of collaborating with the CMRI team and university to make sure that we can provide what you are looking for and ensure access to the right research expertise.

Typically, we offer:

• The development of collaborative academic projects with industry partners with an emphasis on working on a focussed research question. These projects may be a co-funded partnership with UKRI (e.g. EPSRC, Innovate UK).
• Collaboration through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships(KTPs)
• Consultancy for businesses that require expert advice and input from our academics to provide a solution to a particular technology problem.
• Commissioned contract research. Client deliverables will define the contracted work, and a fee will be charged that fully covers the cost of the activities need to do this and so that you own all new intellectual property generated.
• Short term-contract research to explore the feasibility of innovative ideas that can be developed either collaboratively or in-house by the client.
• Industry-funded PhD studentships and summer placements. We have an established and successful track record of alumni (link to alumni) sponsored by industry.

We collaborate with a variety of different industry partners to develop projects that are costed appropriately with regards to their Technology Readiness Level (TRL). We can work with you to determine the appropriate structure for your project that benefits both the company and the University, whilst recognising the importance of State Aid¹.
