Health and Safety: Ladder Safety Training
Description | Theme: Professional Development Category: Health, Safety, Fire and Environment Course overview: To provide training in the safe use and inspection of ladders and step ladders. The course is aimed at improving knowledge and enhancing ability to use the equipment safely in accordance with Working at Height Regulations 2005.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course staff will be able to:. - Explain the basic principles for the safe use of ladders and step ladders. - Identify various common defects of the ladders, step ladders and fixed ladders. - Carry out routine inspections using the University ladder inspection form.
Audience: Those routinely using ladders and carrying out basic work at height tasks. Estate Direct Work operatives and others who routinely work at height and have to use ladders/stepladders to carry out their duties. Those staff for whom the course is mandatory will be identified and contacted directly by Engineering and Direct Works or their line managers.
