Drop-ins

**Bookings for autumn 2024 are now closed. Bookings for spring 2025 are open.**

Please contact employer-events@exeter.ac.uk if you are interested in discussing potential dates.

A drop-in will allow you to raise your profile with our students and meet potential employees informally by having a stand in our busy student services building.

The relaxed environment lends itself to promoting your organisation to those passing by, as well as those who have already undertaken research and are eager to speak in more depth about your opportunities. These events can be arranged as a one off activity or alternatively, you may wish to schedule in other sessions as part of your visit.

Due to the nature of these events, they are only available in-person.

Please bear in mind that all physical bookings require robust risk assessments and protocols to be followed in order for them to go ahead.

Please click on the headings below for more information, including charges.

Require a bigger space or looking to hold a large scale installation? Then see our showcase events page.

If you are a current student visiting this page, please visit Handshake for a list of all upcoming drop-in events.

Drop-ins are located within the Forum building on the Streatham campus, in an area known as ‘The Street’. Click here to view a photo of this space.

The Forum is located at the heart of the campus making it an ideal location for high profile activity. It houses the main library, supermarket, coffee shops, Career Zone, seminar rooms, and a 435 seater auditorium. A busy space, pre-COVID-19 it attracted approximately 6,000 visitors each day, with students of any discipline passing through.

Drop-ins consist of a table and two chairs, an electrical point, Wi-Fi and space for a banner stand.

Bookings are made throughout the autumn and spring term, with February usually our busiest period. We don't typically run them in the summer term due to students undertaking examinations. No events run in the first or last week of term.

Offered Monday – Friday, they can take place anytime between 09:00 - 17:00. Most organisations opt for a 10:30-14:30 or 11:30-15:30 slot but it is flexible and entirely to your choosing.  We do, however, recommend that you cover the lunch period to maximise student attendance and ask that your event is booked for a minimum two hours.

Please note the earliest you are able to set up your drop-in is from 08:00.

Drop-ins are advertised via:

  • The Career Zone website
  • Our internal online events site ‘Handshake’
  • Email circular, sent to all Streatham and St Luke’s campus based students (approximately 20,000)
  • Via our social media channels.

Where appropriate, the events will also be included in Faculty-based marketing material.

To secure your preferred date, benefit from all the publicity opportunities and get the best attendance, as well as to avoid clashes with other employers, we urge you to book a date with us as early as possible. Many employers secure their preferred dates when we first open for bookings (spring, for the upcoming autumn term and spring terms).

We advise at least 4 weeks notice minimum between booking and the live event.  For events in October,  November and February, however, please contact us no later than 8 weeks before the start of the term.

Please note: Bookings for autumn 2024 are now closed. Bookings for spring 2025 are open.

Drop-ins start from £175+VAT. Charges include marketing as outlined above and support from our team on the day.
