Bus services

Download the Transport for Cornwall app, to get tickets, timetables, and details of local buses.

You can buy weekly bundles for unlimited travel either across all of Cornwall or within specific town zones, like Penryn to Falmouth. Bundles are interchangeable, so you can use them on any bus operator (First Bus, Go Cornwall Bus, Stagecoach, OTS, and Hopley’s).

The 7-day bundles currently available are: 

  • Under 19s – Town Zone: 7-day Ticket – Penryn & Falmouth - £16 (a day pass costs £4) 
  • Young Person's (19-25) - 7-day Ticket – All of Cornwall - £20 (a day pass costs £5) 
  • Adults (26 +) Town Zone - 7-day Ticket – Penryn & Falmouth - £26 (a day pass costs £6.50) 

Day tickets for unlimited travel are also available, or you can use Tap & Cap on the bus (adult fares only). The most cost-effective option for you will depend on your age and frequency of travel to and from campus. See more information

Direct bus link to London. There is a daily, return bus service from Penryn Campus to London Hammersmith, with competitive prices, from Flix Bus.

Trains

The 16-25 railcard is available to all full time students in higher education, and gives you a third off rail tickets. If you live in Devon or Cornwall you can also consider the Devon and Cornwall Railcard, to save 1/3 on journeys not starting before 08:45, which are wholly within Devon and Cornwall.

Social space

Truro campus common room

The common room is a great place for you to hang out and keep warm. There’s comfy seating, plus tables for eating or working and a kitchen area to prepare food and drinks, with free hot water. There's also games and activities including a games station pod from Falmouth Uni's Games Academy, free to play pool table, a clothes swish and swap rail and book swap.

Penryn campus cafes

Remember that the social spaces and cafes on Penryn campus are here for you to use whether you’re buying something or not. If you want somewhere warm and comfy to hang out, you’re welcome to use The Upper and Lower Stannary, ESI café, AMATA café and Sustainability café without feeling obliged to buy anything.

Regular events at the Multifaith Chaplaincy

The multifaith chaplaincy is open to everyone, of all faiths and none. Pop in for a cup of team and a chat, or attend one of their organised sessions - including craft afternoons, guided labyrinth walks and movie events.

Intercultural Cafe - Penryn Campus

The  Intercultural Cafe is a chance to meet people and celebrate different cultures in a relaxed and friendly space. It usually takes place on Wednesdays in term time, from 15:00 - 16:30.

Come along for a free hot drink and cake. Each week is a different theme. Everyone is welcome, but please pre-book so we can plan for the session. Take a look at the events on campus page for the latest dates and locations. 

ResLife weekly events

ResLife run regular weekly events – join them for fun activities that also offer free food. This could be anything from movies to games and walks to study sessions

Sports Centre
Off peak Sports Hall and MUGA hire
You can hire the Sports Hall and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at off-peak prices from 07:00-16:00 and all weekend (Sat & Sun). 
•    Badminton £7:50 p/h, per court.
•    Half sports hall: basketball / football / volleyball / Netball, £15 p/h.
•    Full sports hall: £30 p/h.
•    Table tennis £3:25 p/h, per table.
•    MUGA - £7:50 p/h.

Community Warm Spaces

Weekly community warm space in Temperance Hall, Penryn. 12:00 - 14:00 every Tuesday.
Free snack-lunch and drink. 

Warm up in local libraries

Your local libraries are great options if you want to save money and work in the warm when you’re not on campus. They’re free to use, have free WiFi and public computers if you need them, or just offer a comfy place to chill out and read a book.

Penryn Library, St Thomas Street
Open Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00, and Friday 09:00 to 16:30.
Penryn Library has free Wi-Fi and a quiet study/working area, four public computers that are free to use and plenty of areas to sit.

Falmouth Library, the Moor
Open 09:30 to 17:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 09:00 to 13:00 Wednesday and Saturday.
Falmouth Library is right in the centre of town and easily accessible. They have eight public computers, free Wi-Fi and printing and copying services available. There are tables for working on a laptop, and also some soft seating. 

Truro Community Library, Union Place
Open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00, and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00.
Truro Library has free WiFi, seating, eight public computers, and printing and copying facilities. They also have a cafe on site and a community garden where you can sit and read or just relax.
