Caring for your plant

• Watering and feeding - The plant you have been given lives in a dry area in the wild, so will need watering only once every fortnight during spring and summer and then monthly during autumn and winter. Water it until water comes out of the bottom of the pot, but then don't leave it to sit in water in the saucer. It will benefit from a feed three or four times throughout spring and summer. It is better to err on the side of being too dry. The leaves can become a bit wrinkled when dry, but they recover from this pretty quickly. Overwatering can lead it to rotting which will kill the plant.
• Where to keep it - Your plant needs to be on a good sunny windowsill when keeping it indoors, but not in direct sunlight. It is not at all hardy, so must be kept indoors throughout most of the year, but especially when outdoor temperatures drop below 15 degrees centigrade.
• Future care - Your plant shouldn't need potting on for the next year, but when it does it will need free draining houseplant compost and will only need to be potted up into a pot a little bit bigger.
