The rules on VAT mean that students are exempt from paying VAT on hot food, which is why there are separate prices for students and non-students. The University is therefore not offering a discount to students that they are not offering to staff, but simply following the VAT rules in not charging students VAT on hot food.

La Touche Cafe provides a wide variety of ever-changing choice for customers. New to La Touche this term are breakfast pots, bagels, wraps and ciabattas alongside pastries and a range of toast with toppers.
For lunch you'll find international flavours including Italian, Mexican, American and a taste of the Caribbean, to the latest trending dishes and favourites such as soup and made to order wraps, burgers and pizzas.
Cold drink, snacks, cakes and bakes are all available alongside Barisca Coffee Co. - the new University Fairtrade coffee and hot drinks range, available in all University outlets.
