At our Penryn Campus, Glasney Student Village offers exceptional accommodation just a couple of minutes' walk from the academic and social facilities. Students at The Sidings have easy access to Penryn Train Station, and are just a short walk from campus.
Glasney Student Village
The purpose-built Glasney Student Village offers high-quality, en-suite accommodation on campus. The buildings are divided into self-catered flats with seven rooms that can house eight students. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and the majority have a double bed, wardrobe, desk, telephone and wifi points. Students may also opt for a shared room which, at a reduced rate, accommodates two students in either study beds or bunk beds.
The communal kitchen/dining areas are furnished with a fully fitted kitchen, table and chairs, a TV and Freeview box, and a DVD/video player. Additional facilities at include coin-operated launderettes and external bicycle racks.
The Sidings opened in September 2012 and is located in Penryn, a short walk from the Penryn Campus and adjacent to Penryn Train Station. All rooms are single occupancy and are fully furnished with a 4-ft double bed and an en-suite shower. Each flat has a fully fitted communal kitchen/dining area, as well as a living area with sofas and a flat-screen television. The development is managed by CRM, who provide on-site management of all services, including IT, laundry, cleaning, and security. Applications for accommodation at The Sidings are made via our online system, Room Service, but your details will be passed to CRM to complete the booking.
At both Glasney Park and The Sidings, a number of rooms have been modified for students with disabilities. Individual personal needs can be discussed with the Accommodation Office and staff within the Accessibility Service. Please note that all Penryn campus accommodation charges should be paid online or by contacting the finance office at email@example.com. Accommodation charges for The Sidings should be paid directly to CRM.
We welcome applications from all students and we guarantee to offer you a place in University owned/managed/approved accommodation if you are:
- A first-year undergraduate, unaccompanied home, EU or international student who has firmly accepted an offer of a place at the University of Exeter.
- An unaccompanied home, EU or international postgraduate in your first year of study.
- An unaccompanied incoming study abroad and Erasmus student for the full academic year.
There is limited provision for home/EU postgraduate students in university owned, managed, or approved accommodation; if you are unsuccessful in your application, the accommodation team on campus are available to help you search locally for houses and flats in the private sector. Second and third year students
There is a good deal of private housing available for rent in Falmouth and Penryn, with rents typically in the region of £75-95 per week excluding bills. The Penryn Campus Accommodation Office runs accommodation fairs and other services to help students find private sector accommodation.
Food and groceries
Glasney Student Village and The Sidings are self-catered halls, but if you prefer to have your meals prepared for you, the nearby campus restaurant and bar offer a range of options during the week. At the restaurant you can pay as you go or buy vouchers from the Finance Office to cover your meals. The campus shop sells a variety of essential food items, and there are also two large supermarkets in nearby Penryn.
Like many other university campuses, the Penryn Campus has limited car parking. It operates a Green Transport Policy and both staff and students are encouraged to car-share and/or use public transport. A subsidised bus service operates between the campus, Penryn, and Falmouth. There is a limited number of long-stay car parking spaces available to students living at Glasney Student Village; further information is available online; there is no parking available at The Sidings. Car parking is reviewed annually and further information for students arriving in September 2015 will be available in the summer.
