Open Days

Postgraduate open days and events

Prospective Master's students and Exeter staff talking at a stand during a postgraduate open day.

Our Postgraduate Open Days are the ideal opportunity to explore what we can offer you as a postgraduate student. You'll have the chance to visit our campuses, meet with current students and staff and learn more about what it's like to study at Exeter.

We also offer Explore Postgraduate events throughout the year. They are your opportunity to come and visit our campuses, and find out more about our Postgraduate courses at the University of Exeter. You'll be able to chat informally with key members of staff at the university, before undertaking a campus tour with some of our current students.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

The University of Exeter is spread over three campuses: Streatham and St Luke’s in Exeter, and Penryn in Cornwall.

Please check the postgraduate course webpages for the degree you're interested in to see which campus it's taught at. Some of our courses are taught at more than one campus but have different syllabuses, so please check carefully.

We hold open days for prospective postgraduate students in the spring, as well as Explore Postgraduate events throughout the year. We also hold open days for PGCE students in the spring, summer and autumn.

Dates for upcoming postgraduate open days will be published on this webpage once they have been confirmed. If you're interested in visiting us, sign up to our Expression of Interest form to be among the first to receive event updates and booking information.

Our Open Days can be very popular! Therefore, rather than just turning up, we ask visitors to complete a booking form for open days in advance, so we do not exceed the visitor capacity. This also enables us to provide a better experience for you.

If you're unable to attend one of our open days, there are plenty of other ways to explore postgraduate study with us.

Our Explore Postgraduate events offer the opportunity to meet academic staff, chat with current students and take a tour of our beautiful campus. Details of the next event will be published here once confirmed.

You can also:

  • Join one of our regular student-led guided tours of our Streatham Campus.
  • Explore resources and further information available on our Postgraduate On-Demand and Postgraduate offer-holders and applicants webpages.
  • If you receive an offer to study with us, you'll be invited to join our Postgraduate Offer Holder Community, where you can connect with staff and fellow offer holders and access useful information before you start your course.

You may also wish to sign up to our study mailing list.

Depending on which event or campus you’re visiting, there may be different options available. Please check your event booking confirmation email for full details.

Streatham Campus (Exeter)

Visitor parking on our Streatham campus will be limited on an event day. As spaces cannot be guaranteed, we recommend using the city centre, "zone 1" car parks where possible.

The nearest train station to our Streatham Campus is Exeter St Davids. The station is a short 15-minute walk to the campus but please be aware it is uphill. The Stagecoach bus (number 4 or 4A) will run periodically from the train station to Streatham campus. There is also a taxi rank outside the station.

The Streatham Campus is a 20-minute walk from the town centre.

St Luke's Campus (Exeter)

There is no visitor parking available at St Luke’s campus. We recommend parking in one of the city centre car parks. The closest options are Triangle Car Park and Magdalen Road Car Park.

If you have a blue badge or accessible parking requirements, please contact us via the Enquiry form, so we can discuss options and best support you.

Penryn Campus (Cornwall)

Parking at our Penryn Campus is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is typically free for our Postgraduate Open day. Open Day car parking is in car parks D-E, with overflow parking also available in F- K.

If you need EV charging, we have 12 charging unit bays in car park A. These are on a first come first served basis.  For Open Days, we suggest Blue Badge holders use accessible spaces located in Car Park A.

Further information about parking and public transport at Penryn can be found on our Penryn Campus webpage.

We do not currently have any bursaries for those wishing to attend a postgraduate open day.

If you're planning to travel to our Exeter Campuses by train for the PGCE Open Day, you may be eligible for discounted fares on selected Advance tickets booked through Great Western Railway (GWR). This offer is organised and provided by GWR.

To claim the discount, simply enter the promotional code at checkout when booking through GWR. Your discount code will be included in your Open Day booking confirmation.

The discount is valid for travel from 7 days before your Open Day up to and including 7 days after the event.

Please note: Reduced fares through GWR may not always be the lowest available, as cheaper tickets may be offered by other rail retailers. However, GWR does not charge booking fees for tickets purchased directly through its website.

We appreciate that travel costs can be a consideration and recommend exploring our online resources if you're unable to visit us in person.

Our on-campus Postgraduate Open Days typically run from 12.00pm to 5.00pm (unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation email).

When you book, you'll be able to choose from a range of general sessions, including talks on admissions and careers, as well as an academic and student ambassador networking session. You can also book a guided campus tour, which usually takes place after the talks and networking sessions.

Our PGCE Open Days typically run from 10.30am to 3.00pm (unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation email). These events usually include programme workshops, the opportunity to meet tutors and admissions staff, and a guided campus tour.

Your personalised schedule, including session times and locations, will be available on your e-ticket before the event.

Our Postgraduate Taught Offer holders will receive an invitation to join our online Unibuddy Community. We will typically run a range of online Q&A sessions. These events will be advertised within the Unibuddy Community as and when they are finalised with academics and support staff.

We have a range of online videos across several subject areas available on our on-demand webpage.
